| Raytheon HISNET invited 26 Academy students from ISTA to attend the Cinco de Mayo festivities at Raytheon El Segundo. The students were given a tour of the Raytheon Museum as well as a presentation and explanation by HISNET representatives of how thermal imaging systems work. The event is the first between ISTA and Raytheon-HISNET which plans to work with ISTA students to establish a network for tutoring and mentoring inner-city youth interested in engineering, math and science.
The students were entertained by a Mariachi group that performed during lunch. The students had the opportunity to meet with Raytheon personel and management to discuss careers in engineering and the the diverse workforce that makes Ratheon a leader in engineering and technological systems. The students appreciated the opportunity to meet with the young engineer role-models of Raytheon, and is looking forward to meeting with them on Saturdays.
The event served to celebrate the begining of a tutoring partnership between Raytheon-HISNET and the Academy. Raytheon employees have volunteered their expertise in assisting students with their studies by providing them with tutoring resources and assistance on Saturdays at Manual Arts H.S. By providing this support HISNET hopes to help more students become better prepared to go to college and hopefully have some of them become engineers. |
